The new residents of this development built by the Municipal Institute of Housing and Rehabilitation of Barcelona (IMHAB) are over 65 years old and did not have a home or had one that was not accessible.
From now on they will reside under a protected rental regime in one-bedroom apartments, accessible and designed for one or two people to live in. They are directed and managed by professionals from the Municipal Institute of Social Services (IMSS), they have common spaces and multipurpose rooms for revitalization activities, a garden area for community use on the roof, a community laundry area and urban gardens.
This is the 26th promotion of housing with services for older people promoted by the City Council in the last 20 years. The objective of these promotions is to guarantee the independence of older people and, at the same time, offer services to help them maintain their autonomy. Thus, they have telephone lines with telecare service, bathrooms equipped to facilitate access and prevent falls and plugs located at a comfortable height, as well as concierge services, geriatric and cleaning professionals and an internal alarm service in case something happens. incident.
With this new development, there are already a total of 1,566 homes of these characteristics in the city, and four more developments are currently being built with a total of 342 apartments, which will allow us to reach nearly 2,000 homes for seniors with services.
