The group of tax experts from Foment to reduce taxes in Catalonia starts up

The group of tax experts from Foment del Treball on the taxation of Catalonia began yesterday with more than 40 professionals in the field of taxation. The objective of the group coordinated by Jordi Alberich is to prepare a report on how the tax burden in Catalonia can be reduced so that companies can become more competitive.

In the group, Juan Costa Climent (Ex Secretary of State Economy and Hacienda), Antoni Duran-Sindreu (Duran-Sindreu Asesores Legales) or Pilar Fernández Bozal (Ex Minister of Justice) stand out. "What we are pursuing is to propose a competitive taxation system for the whole of society", declared the president of Foment, Josep Sánchez Llibre, during the presentation of the group of experts.

Just after the approval of the basic lines of the Generalitat budget for 2023 was agreed, the Foment employers launched a campaign to reduce the tax burden in Catalonia that has its maximum expression in the group of experts.

This morning, Sánchez Llibre pointed out that some models to follow are those of the Community of Madrid or Andalusia, where the wealth tax has been abolished.

Foment always points out that the tax paid for the purchase of a used apartment in Catalonia is 66% higher than that paid in Madrid. It is the tax on documented legal acts (AJD), which in Catalonia is 10% (11% for properties of more than one million), while in Madrid it is 6%.

On the other hand, from the Department of Economy, headed by Natàlia Mas, it is always emphasized that "Catalonia is not the community with the most fiscal pressure according to data from the General Council of Economists (2022)".

On the other hand, Sánchez Llibre, this morning has shown himself to be "absolutely in agreement" with the Parity Law announced by the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, and which must guarantee parity in politics and private business.
