The former president of the CAC and former CiU deputy Francesc Codina dies at the age of 79

The former president of the Audiovisual Council of Catalonia (CAC) and former CiU deputy in the Parliament Francesc Codina has died at the age of 79, as confirmed by the Catalan audiovisual organization through its account on X.

The former president of the CAC and former CiU deputy Francesc Codina dies at the age of 79

The former president of the Audiovisual Council of Catalonia (CAC) and former CiU deputy in the Parliament Francesc Codina has died at the age of 79, as confirmed by the Catalan audiovisual organization through its account on X.

Militant of the Democratic Convergence of Catalonia (CDC), he was a councilor in his hometown, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, between 1983 and 1995, deputy in the Parliament for Convergence and Union (CiU) between 1984 and 2000, and held the position of secretary of the Bureau from 1995 to 2000. He was also a senator representing the Generalitat between 1992 and 1995, and general director of Social Services of the Generalitat between 1982 and 1984.

In a tweet, the CAC has shown its condolences for the death of Codina. He was a member of this organization since its creation in 1997 and chaired it between 2000 and 2005. He was also a speaker on the laws regulating audiovisual programming distributed by cable and the CAC. He was also a member of the Advisory Council of RTVE in Catalonia between 1986 and 1995.

In 2008, he received the Creu de Sant Jordi for his parliamentary career, especially for his dedication to audiovisuals.

The mayor of L'Hospitalet, Núria Marín, praised him this Monday in a message from 'X' collected by Europa Press: "A faithful man with his ideas that we will always remember for his commitment and dedication in all areas."

The current president of the CAC, Xevi they shared hours, work and objectives" at the CAC.

Also through X, the general secretary of Junts, Jordi Turull, reacted to his death, which he described as "sad news." Turull recalled that he "shared many moments" with Codina.
