The Fishermen's Market in the port of Barcelona will have a Mediterranean cuisine restaurant

The Board of Directors held today has announced the competition for the concession of the restaurant of the new Fishermen's Market. The tender provides for the opening of a restaurant of almost 300 square meters with a terrace of 80 square meters in the area open to the public of the new building, which will open this summer.

The contest specifications stipulate that the establishment will have to specialize in quality Mediterranean cuisine linked to the sea, with emphasis on fish, seafood and rice dishes, and that the use of local fish will prevail.

The competition, which includes a concession for the next 15 years, also includes a 140-square-meter bar on the ground floor of the building, in this case in the area restricted to fishermen and fish market workers.

The completion of the new fish market will mean the opening of the Fisherman's Wharf to the general public, since the building incorporates an access walkway and spaces on the first floor so that citizens can watch the fish auction live.

The new restaurant will help to energize and make more attractive a space in Port Vell that until now had had restricted access.

On the other hand, the port of Barcelona has awarded the connection between the Energia and Adosado docks, an essential piece to supply electricity to the Onshore Power Supply (OPS) of the Adosado dock to the Temporary Union of Dedalus Shipping Companies and Catalana de Perforacions.

This system, which will allow the supply of electricity to cruise ships that are moored so that they can stop their engines and reduce emissions, will be the first to be connected to the medium voltage network that will be deployed with the Nexigen project and will allow the electrification of the main docks of the port of Barcelona.

The tender, which will have to receive the approval of the Council of Ministers, foresees a budget of 14.5 million euros, including the drafting of the project, the construction and commissioning of the systems, as well as the maintenance and operations during the first two years of operation. It is expected that, once awarded, it will be operational in two years and that the supply of electricity to cruise ships will be a reality in 2026.

The Board of Directors has also awarded today the construction of a battery of seven underground pipes that will connect the Energía and Adosado docks. The construction will allow the OPS of the Adosado dock cruise terminals to be connected to the medium voltage network that will supply them with electricity.

The connection, which will cross the navigation channel, will have a length of 700 meters and will pass 32 meters below sea level, will also allow expanding the general services network of the Adosado dock.
