The EsDansa festival reaches its 40th edition, regaining its international presence

The ÉsDansa traditional dance festival celebrates its four decades of existence this summer with a return to full normality, which means that international companies will return the week of August 22 to 28 in the town of Les Preses, in La Garrotxa.

"We recovered the participatory and international line that we knew of the festival, and that is the best celebration we could do," said Roger Casalprim, president of the Marboleny Traditional and Popular Culture Circle, the cycle's organizing body, in his presentation. For her part, Núria Feixas, director of ÉsDansa, stressed that this year it returns “to 100% of the lines that we have been doing until now”, characterized by being a speaker of root dance and betting on cultural exchange.

Argentina, the Republic of Djibouti, Panama, Tahiti, Slovakia and Mexico will be the invited countries that will participate in the Nits ÉsDansa, in which spectators will be able to dance to the rhythm of their traditional dances. But within the 400 artists that will go through the festival, you will be able to see a range of proposals that range from esbarts dansaires to shows of contemporary creation that reinterpret folklore because this, according to ÉsDansa, is something very alive.

In this last group, stand out Tradere , signed by Laia Santanach, or Involuntary Movement by Lara Brown, which will see the light of day at the contest, as well as Pyrene 430 d'Amaiur Luluaga , by Clàudia Gomez, Iñaki Plaza and Àlex López, who is recovering after the cancellation due to rain of the last edition.

The festival also proposes several itineraries in its programming. One of them is the Root Dance Promotion Plan, in which you can see El cos que ens fa by Esbart Sant Cugat and Fiblades, the first work by La Llançadora, two shows that have artistic mentorship. And since popular culture cannot be understood without its territory, you can see Fora N9U del Esbart Sant Martí as part of the Dance and Landscape itinerary.
