The driver who killed a cyclist in Canet d'En Berenguer was drugged

The driver allegedly involved in an accident in which a 49-year-old cyclist died this Sunday in the Valencian town of Canet d'En Berenguer tested positive for cannabis in the saliva test, as published by Las Provincias and sources have confirmed to Europa Press close to the investigation.

The Civil Guard has opened an investigation and is awaiting confirmation of the analytical results, according to the same sources. The driver is identified but not arrested.

The 49-year-old woman died this Sunday when her bicycle and a car collided at kilometer 9 of the CV-309 highway in the municipality of Canet d'en Berenguer, according to the Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU) and confirmed sources from the DGT Traffic Management Center.

The accident took place around 9:05 a.m. and a SAMU unit went to the scene, whose medical team performed advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers and other stabilization techniques on the cyclist, but there was no response and they confirmed her death.
