The DP World Tour will sanction participants in the LIV Saudi Golf with 115,000 euros

The DP World Tour confirmed this Friday that members who broke the Tour rules and participated in a LIV Golf event at Centurion Club from June 9 to 11 will be fined €115,000 in addition to the inability to participate in various Tour tournaments.

Participants in this first LIV Saudi golf tournament "will be fined 115,000 euros and will not be able to participate in the following DP World Tour tournaments: Genesis Scottish Open and the Barbasol Championship (from July 7 to 10) and the Barracuda Championship (from July 14 to 17)," they confirmed.

The money collected from the fines, as reported by the formerly called European Tour, will be distributed equally in two different ways. On the one hand it will be added to the prizes of the next tournaments and on the other it will be distributed through Golf for Good to charitable causes.

“Every action someone takes in life has a consequence and it is no different in professional sport, especially if a person chooses to break the rules,” said Keith Pelley, CEO of the DP World Tour.

“Many members I have spoken with in recent weeks expressed the view that those who chose this route not only disrespected them and our Tour, but also the meritocratic ecosystem of professional golf that has been the foundation of our game for the last 50 years and that will also be the foundation on which we build the next 50," Pelley concluded.
