The Court orders that the Raval palm tree case be investigated

The Provincial Court of Barcelona has partially upheld the appeal of the family of Shamira, the woman who died last August when a palm tree fell on her in the Raval neighborhood. As reported by the victim's lawyers, the Vosseler law firm, the high court has revoked the dismissal of the case and has agreed that the facts be investigated through criminal means.

In a statement, lawyer Javier Benito states that there is a complaint from March 14 made by a resident of Raval in which he indicates that the palm tree was very inclined and could collapse. "These are sufficient data to carry out a more detailed analysis in view of the fatal outcome; there may be serious responsibility on the part of the council," maintains Benito.

For this reason, the private prosecution requests that a statement be taken, "in the corresponding capacity" from the person in charge of Parcs i Jardins of the City Council who delivered the report dated August 4 "and that the territorial person in charge who, after carrying out the recognition of the palm tree, he decided that he did not need to schedule any action and that he closed the file definitively.
