The controversial posters on the beaches of Mallorca to "scare" tourists: "Danger from jellyfish"

With the arrival of the summer holidays, the Spanish coasts begin to receive the arrival of thousands and even millions of tourists in search of good food, warm weather and the impressive beach landscapes that our country offers. A tourism that comes especially to the Balearic Islands, causing in some places the most beautiful and apparently lonely beaches to become completely overcrowded.

A reality that greatly worries the residents of Mallorca who see how every year the most iconic places on the island become overcrowded, making it lose its charm. Faced with this reality, the Twitter account @Caterva_mnc, Manacor's anti-capitalist Coordinator, has carried out an action to "scare" foreigners from the beaches: posting posters warning about the "dangers" of the beaches.

The initiative. “These days we have carried out a complaint action against the mass tourism in the coves of Manacor. With a bit of humor, we have hung several posters that can be seen in the photos. From Cala Morlanda to Cala Bota”, says the @Caterva_mnc Twitter account.

But not only that, they also point out that “The usurpation of the coves is just one more expression of how capitalism uses an economic activity such as tourism, taken to the extreme, to freely dry the territory and to extract the maximum surplus value from the workers. ”, while they add: “If you want to use the images and print posters, you just have to ask us and we will pass them on in good quality. We continue with the fight!"

As can be seen in the images, the signs warn of the following dangers: presence of jellyfish, rockfall, water pollution, closed beach and even assuring that to get to the beach you first have to walk for almost three hours.

Viral. Some images that have not taken long to generate controversy in networks with almost 100,000 reproductions and all kinds of reactions in this regard: from those who applaud the initiative, criticizing the overcrowding of the beaches, to those who assure that the island's economy depends on tourism.

Top comments. “Intelligent humor is always the most revolutionary”, “It seems to me a brutal measure”, “To act against overcrowding it is necessary to control the capacity of the offer”, “Waste of time and money, it is neither funny nor ingenious. A useless exercise that will achieve nothing but make a fool of yourself", "There will be a vast majority of people who will not pay any attention to them", "Well done, anti-foreign platform", "They must be fed up with mass tourism", "Wonderful . I am from Ibiza and I would like a few to put here...", "Well, tell me what they live in Mallorca if it is not from tourism", "I understand your indignation, but that island lives from tourism", "If they knew that in Mallorca the great the majority is maintained thanks to tourism” or “They live on tourism”, have been some of the most popular reactions.
