The changes in Colón and in the EMT through the center will become effective this Tuesday first thing in the morning

The traffic changes on Colón Street in València and on lines of the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) to increase its presence and route through the city center will take effect this Tuesday first thing in the morning, as indicated by this Monday the spokesman for the local executive, Juan Carlos Caballero.

The mayor has pointed out that the current government, formed by PP and Vox, intends with these modifications to achieve "friendly" mobility and "resolve the chaos that the previous councilor" of Mobility and president of the EMT, Giuseppe Grezzi (Compromís) had generated. .

Caballero spoke in this way at the press conference after the Local Government Board held in the town hall, asking if the executive chaired by Mayor María José Catalá (PP) has considered implementing traffic changes in Colón - its reopening from Porta de la Mar with a single direction towards Xàtiva, with two lanes for private traffic and one for the public - and on the EMT lines -4, 11, 16, 16, 31, 32 and 70 - in the center for after Christmas taking into account the large influx of people to this area of the city.

The executive spokesperson has reaffirmed that the planned modifications will be implemented "first thing tomorrow morning", while ensuring that they fulfill "one of the commitments made" by the current government team regarding mobility.

The representative of the executive led by Catalá has considered that Grezzi has been "a hooligan in charge of mobility and the EMT" and has asserted that his management "what he did was collapse and generate more traffic throughout the city with improvised decisions, without sense, without consensus at all with anyone, without technical reports".

Caballero has highlighted that the current executive has worked with neighbors and merchants "from the first moment" in order to "talk" and "address the most optimal solutions" to the traffic model generated by the previous government team "with sectarian decisions ". Likewise, he has highlighted that he has had "all the appropriate technical reports" to address the changes.

"Mobility has to be linked to safety and come from common sense and rigor, taking into account the technical reports on traffic, police and mobility and, of course, with the necessary consensus with neighbors and merchants," he added. the municipal spokesperson.

In response to Juan Carlos Caballero, Giuseppe Grezzi has pointed out, in statements sent to the media, that "for PP voters it must be absolutely disappointing to see that their idols are impostors and inept people who are breaking what everyone world enjoys it just because Compromís did it, with bad manners and without caring for anyone.

"The bus drivers who know the users best, want to provide a good service to the citizens and do not want to run over anyone, have asked them to do so. Several civic entities have asked them to do so, and they also say that Catalá has never asked them which It was his wish. And the thousands and thousands of people who walk through La Paz, San Vicente, La Reina and the Plaza del Ayuntamiento ask him for it," added Grezzi regarding the changes proposed by the current executive in Colón and in the EMT.

From the PSPV, the councilor María Pérez sent a letter this Tuesday to the president of the EMT, the councilor of Mobility Jesús Carbonell, to paralyze the change of lines planned in the center and recalled that this will involve the passage of "up to 600 buses through a highly pedestrianized environment such as San Vicente Street in the section between Plaza de la Reina and Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

Pérez has considered that this is an "impromptu" decision, has warned of the "high risk of accidents that this increase in traffic can cause" and has insisted on "leaving the modification on the table until the consequences are adequately analyzed and the pedestrian safety.

"Catalá's mobility policy is absolutely improvised and does not meet any technical criteria," added the socialist councillor, who recalled that her group has requested an urgent board of directors of the EMT to adequately analyze the changes and "avoid improvisation". She has asked for "all guarantees regarding road safety."
