Around 09:30 a.m. a group of bathers notified the lifeguards on the beach of Canet de Mar (Maresme) about the presence of a body floating in the water. It was a woman between 50 and 60 years old. The security services have taken him to the arena to revive her but the efforts have been unsuccessful.
The body has appeared a few meters from the coast, in front of Canet beach near Avinguda Maresme. He did not have any documentation or identifying elements, so the Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating who it is and the causes of death. The Local Police and two ambulances have also attended the scene, one of them medicalized.
The mayor of Canet de Mar, Pere Xirau, has issued a statement in which he regrets the events and sends his condolences to the victim's family.
