The BDTA chooses Barcelona for the celebration of the Building Digital Twin International Congress

The Building Digital Twin Association (BDTA) is an association that was born from the EU SPHERE project, a four-year European project that is part of Horizon 2020 with the aim of providing a digital platform based on BIM to optimize life cycles, cost reduction and energy improvement in buildings.

The Digital Twins or Digital Twins are one of the most relevant trends currently found in digitization in all sectors and, especially, in the AECOO sector (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Operation

The current digitization of our assets also seeks to use models, in this case data, to provide visibility and prediction of parameters such as air quality, comfort, consumption, etc. that serve to control and improve buildings throughout their life cycle, optimizing energy demand and reducing the ecological footprint.

The Digital Twin covers all phases of the building, from design and planning to commissioning and real-time operation of the building. This means that it must be well connected and coordinated with the data models (BIM, GIS) and other services of the Building Digital Twin so that it can predict the functionalities of the different systems: passive building, ventilation networks, devices for heating, cooling and /or meteorology or occupation.

The functional representation of the Digital Twin of the Building requires new processes and new professional roles to properly integrate the data flow and thus give visibility to these parameters that allow the creation of evaluations from the simulation, which affect not only the dynamics of energy use but also also to the economic implication of the project and the subsequent management of the asset.

On May 24 and 25, the SPHERE European Project Assembly will be held at ROCA Barcelona Gallery, followed by the 2nd edition of the Building Digital International Congress at CAATEEB on May 26.

During the morning there will be 4 workshops dedicated to: Ontology and Semantics, Privacy and Ethics Metrics, Real-time Simulation and Artificial Intelligence, as well as the first meeting of EU projects of the Digital Building Twin topic.

In the afternoon, the Congress will be held with 2 keynote speakers and with 10-minute presentations and a Round Table to discuss Urban Digital Twin issues, how to connect BDTs with Smart Grids, the simulation process, use of platforms and software, among other topics. .
