The Aemet warns that Spain will experience an unexpected return to the February cold

Spain will feel the cold of February again starting next Monday, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). Although the country has recently enjoyed warmer, spring-like weather, the situation will take a drastic turn with the arrival of the new week. This change will mainly affect the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, with the exception of the Guadalquivir valley.

The Aemet has launched a specific warning for the beginning of the week, highlighting that temperatures will experience a sharp drop. "Next Monday and Tuesday the temperatures will be those of a month of February, both in maximum and minimum," they mention in their statement, in which they emphasize that this phenomenon will not only be felt in daytime temperatures, but also at night.

In addition, the agency foresees even more severe conditions on Tuesday with the appearance of frost in several inland areas. According to the report, "widespread frosts are expected on Tuesday in flat areas of Castilla y León, Teruel and Cuenca." This phenomenon could be especially pronounced in the first hours of the day.

For this weekend, the Aemet forecast is also for adverse weather phenomena in other areas of the country. "Showers accompanied by storms" are expected in the Canary Islands, Ceuta, Melilla and the southwest quadrant of the peninsula. This type of precipitation, although not so cold, is a harbinger of the change that is coming with the new week.

Finally, on Sunday, the rains could extend to Catalonia, although they will remain within normal parameters for this time of year. This scenario anticipates a sudden change that will put an end to the brief spring period enjoyed recently, marking the beginning of a week that will remember, due to its temperatures, the month of February.
