The 2023 Budget agreement between ERC and PSC derails key projects in Barcelonès Nord

The agreement between the Socialist parliamentary group and the government of the Generalitat to approve the Budget Law project for 2023, has meant an economic injection for Barcelonès Nord that will allow it to promote projects that until now were paralyzed, such as the expansion of the line 1 of the subway.

The agreed budget allocates five million euros in 2023 for the drafting of the expansion project of the L1 metro, from Fondo to Lloreda-Sant Crist, with an approximate investment of 350 million euros between 2025 and 2027 that will also allow the extension of the line to the Renfe Cercanías station in Badalona. It is an old demand for the territory that the government of the Generalitat had delayed to the discontent of the municipalities of Barcelonès Nord.

The agreement, in environmental matters, allows the project of a new water regeneration plant for the Besòs river to be promoted. For this, 260 million will be allocated until 2030. Similarly, 500,000 euros are allocated to tendering the studies and the preliminary project of the new Besòs Drinking Water Treatment Station (ETAP) and four million euros to start the basic project improvement and expansion of the current one for the first half of 2023.

In Santa Coloma de Gramenet, the budget includes the rehabilitation, expansion and improvement project for the Rosselló Porcel and Joan Salvat Papasseït schools, both located in the old Casadesport factory, which is expected to be developed this year. The City Council estimates that the probable cost of the works will be around seven million euros. In Badalona, the agreement commits to carrying out a study for the construction project of the new CAP Sant Crist, once the suitable site is available.

In Santa Coloma, a request has been made for the construction of a residence for the elderly to complement the existing one on Ramón Berenguer street, which is insufficient given the current demand. For this purpose, the City Council has been offering for more than a decade a plot of land located on Avenida de Francesc Macià, which meets the conditions for the construction of a facility for 100 parking spaces. For this issue, the mayoress Núria Parlon has requested a meeting with the Councilor Carlos Campuzano to address the issue of residence.
