The Court of Palma has sentenced a Civil Guard agent to almost 10 years in prison for having abused two minors whom he paid and offered gifts in exchange for sex despite the fact that he was fully aware that one of them was 15 years old and the other, 17. One of them even had a slight mental disability, something that the condemned man also knew.
The civil guard contacted the minors through a dating application. In the first of the cases, the one related to a minor under 17 years of age with a 23% disability, the sentence affects that the agent used his status as a member of the Civil Guard to get him to send him intimate photographs and videos. He also recorded some of the encounters he had with the minor.
In the case of the minor under 15 years of age, the agent also contacted him through a dating application. The meetings began in September 2020 and lasted for months. In one of these appointments. the agent offered him to have relations in exchange for an iPhone, something to which the minor agreed. In this first meeting, the agent gave the boy 80 euros and promised that he would give him the phone in a second meeting, but the minor refused.
A short time later, the victim was received by the minors' service of the Consell de Mallorca after it was verified that he was in a defenseless situation. As a result of this admission, the abuses by the civil guard became known, and he was immediately arrested, although shortly after he was released with the withdrawal of his passport and the obligation to appear every 15 days in court.
The Judicial Police of the Civil Guard began an exhaustive investigation and discovered that the convicted person had at his home, a barracks, almost 50,000 files with sexual and pedophile content. He also had video recordings and photographs of one of the minors he had abused.
The man has been sentenced to almost 10 years in prison despite the fact that the Prosecutor's Office initially asked him for more than 29 years in prison. The agent has compensated each of the minors with 10,000 euros. The agent's arrest caused a real shock among his colleagues due to the seriousness of the accusations and the unexpectedness of the case.
