The Popular Party's explanations for the meeting of Junts and members of this party in Barcelona revealed by La Vanguardia are contradictory. While Daniel Sirera, leader of the PP in the Barcelona City Council and Feijóo's most trusted man in Catalonia, admits that the meeting did take place at the request of the Catalan independentists, the PP spokesperson in Congress, Miguel Tellado, has denied “any type of contact of this type.” However, Tellado admitted that "It is evident that all parties have contacts with other parties in Congress and spokespersons can talk about any issue."
In any case, Tellado maintained that "in no case would his party be willing to agree on the investiture of Alberto Núñez Feijóo "in exchange for an amnesty" or to agree "with the heirs of a terrorist group with the Government of Spain."
