Soteras will continue to lead the Catalan after winning the elections

Just as happened in the elections on May 22, 2022, some that were repeated this Monday by order of the Catalan Sports Court, Joan Soteras was elected president of the Catalan Football Federation (FCF). Soteras, who became president in 2018 due to the resignation of Andreu Subies, obtained 503 votes, 58% of the 855 participating entities, compared to 335 from Juanjo Isern, his great rival (39%).

Soteras will continue to lead the FCF. “We have won by far and with this we show that Catalan football wants us to govern it. We must continue removing the corruption that existed within Catalan football ”, proclaimed the winner, who saw how he added more than 100 votes more than seven months. "I had to win by a significant number of votes difference," said a confident Soteras after his victory.

The candidate Juanjo Isern congratulated the winner and thanked the support of the 335 presidents who have trusted his proposal, although he has not been able to convince all the voters who once supported Àlex Talavera despite the fact that he did incorporate 10 of its managers. In May, 238 clubs voted for him and now there have been 335, a smaller increase than that of Soteras.

Precisely, an insufficient candidacy in number of troops was what knocked Talavera out of the race.

Participation has been affected by fatigue, the date (a Monday) and the accusations between all sides. Then more than a thousand entities (1,041) went to the polls, although the TCE found 175 irregular votes. This time, among the 855 votes cast, there were 21 blank and 2 null.
