Santa Susanna strengthens trade relations with Israel

In May of last year, Santa Susanna began a collaboration with the main federation of unions in Israel, Histadrut, so that its affiliates could learn about the model of urban transformation of the municipality and its compatibility with tourism development and respect for and protection of the agricultural sector. From that moment until now, a total of 1,050 Israelis have already visited the municipality, divided into 21 groups of about fifty people. It is the first phase of a project that will have ended up bringing to Maresme around 6,000 Israelis from the economic, educational, and health fields, among others. It is a group of people with a great capacity to generate opinion in their country and which makes it possible to make Santa Susanna widely known.

To further take advantage of the door that the relationship with Histadrut has opened and strengthen and expand ties with Israel, the mayor Joan Campolier, the councilor Silvia Vives, and the Tourism technician, Marc Juanola, have traveled to Tel-Aviv. It is the first stage of a three-day stay that will also take them to the cities of Jerusalem and Haifa, and to the Galilee region.

Your hosts are the heads of the Histadrut union. With them, Campolier wants to explore new collaborations that include, among other things, turning Santa Susanna into a destination for the groups they represent.

The Histadrut, Israel's General Federation of Labor, is in charge of the professional and economic affairs of approximately 800,000 workers: unionizing workers, representing workers, negotiating and signing collective agreements to improve conditions and guarantee job security in the job, promotion of pension rights and concern for the future of workers, women's rights, pensioners and more. The Histadrut comprises 28 sectoral and professional unions, and 29 offices throughout the country.
