Rivera had a cousin, known as the "Rivera cousin". And Francis had a franc, known as the "Francis franc." Both had in common their passion for uniforms and North Africa. And it is not known if they were very fond of smoking shisha in Moroccan hookahs or what, but they ended up going down in history for their excesses.
In Francisco's case he ended up obsessed. It is said that one day, while wandering through the Sahara desert, he found a franc under the sand of a dune. The reflection of the sun at that moment made that coin shine like no other. Francisco took the franc and placed it in the palm of his right hand. He was hot, burning, to the point that he left a mark on her skin. It was then that he knew it and exclaimed, turned into a Gollum: "My treasure! My treasure! My treasure!"...
That franc had belonged to a great French emperor. Not surprisingly, the name of that coin is believed to derive from the Latin inscription francorum rex ("king of the Franks"). But Francisco, who felt more Spanish than the bulls, began to see himself as a Caudillo.
The uniformed man remained alone in the desert all day, under a scorching sun that was consuming his skin and causing him to have hallucinations. It seemed illuminated, until at the exact moment of sunset, the candelabra caused its franc to turn red for a few seconds.
It was then that he thought he had had a revelation. "Yes, darling, I will free Spain from the reds." From that twilight moment he even ended up composing a song: Cara al sol, which his followers sang.
And that was how, no matter how many Spaniards ended up nameless in the ditches, he carried out his crusade. It lasted almost 40 years, four decades of darkness. At night and until the day of his death, he would always sit on his bed with his frank in the palm of his hand and, glancing around suspiciously, exclaimed in a very, very low voice: "My treasure! My treasure! My treasure!"...
Francisco was buried with all the honors, although he had given instructions to his most faithful so that no one would know that in his tomb he had his frank with him, as if it were the grave goods of a pharaoh. That became a legend and, every November 20, coinciding with the anniversary of his death, his followers would go to the valley where his burial was to see if the franc would reveal himself again.
But, despite the fact that there are still active treasure hunters in Spain, known as "Francoistas", in allusion to that franc, they have never been able, until now, to follow the path of Francisco. Frankly, there was an attempt in 1981, but to this day, despite many still dreaming of the "treasure", no one has ever gotten hold of it again. That's why the sun still shines.
But what no one knows is that the first person that Frank found himself in the desert sand had been, years before, Rivera's cousin. Thanks to this "treasure" he had also managed to establish his "dictatorship" in Spain, but, when he died, so that it would not happen again, a secret society, known as "democrats", had once again buried in the sands of the Sahara that frank , that "treasure" that moved to subjugate the Spaniards... until Francisco found it years later.
It is also said that there was not only one cousin of Rivera, but that Rivera had another cousin, with his own followers, known as "falangistas". And, although he was not buried with Francisco's franc either, one fine day, when it was decided to transfer his remains to another cemetery, it caused some uproar. It was said that his followers had gone to protest against the exhumation of his remains, but, in reality, this was not the case.
The fact that they all had their arms raised as if making the salute known as "fascist" gave them away. In reality, they were shooting an ad to promote a new deodorant fragrance, Eau du cousine de la rivière, made in France, with the Lepenist formula that the so-called ultra-right wants to spread throughout Spain.
