Raquel Sánchez: "This is not a carrier strike; it is a lockout"

The Minister of Transport, Raquel Sánchez, recalled this Thursday that the strike announced by the transport sector is not a strike, but a lockout, so there is no possibility that there will be pickets that prevent free access to jobs of work of carriers who wish to work.

The minister has assured that her department is willing to talk to everyone to reach an agreement and has wanted to specify that the vast majority of carriers do not support the strike. "This strike makes no sense because we have complied with 100% of the transport demands, with regulations that guarantee that they work at a fair price," she said.

For Raquel Sánchez, if someone does not comply with this regulation, they must be "sanctioned and judged" and has opined that the measures agreed with the sector are being applied correctly, "beyond some complaints that may exist".

He has emphasized that the Government continues to work so that the strike does not occur and has stressed that it is essential to ensure that transport is fully operational. "In the event of a strike, we will guarantee that those carriers who want to work do so," he added.

Regarding the possibility of supply problems on the islands due to the collapse of the ports, Sánchez has withdrawn that the Government is working so that there is supply normally and with all security conditions.

The Minister of Transport and Mobility has insisted that the vast majority of carriers and the organizations that represent them reject this strike, but has been willing to speak with the convening platform. The minister was in Palma this Thursday, where she signed a protocol with the Balearic president, Francina Armengol, to build the first section of the future Palma tramway.
