Protocol activated due to drought situation in Barcelona in pre-emergency phase

This phase does not involve supply cuts to people, but it does involve several actions to reduce the amount of water used by citizens, companies and also by city councils throughout the country. It is complemented by various awareness-raising and communication actions for citizens in order to achieve greater water savings.

For practical purposes, thanks to the previous work done in the city between institutions and citizens, the new phase does not imply any impact on home supply and the most important limitation that is added to those established in the previous phase of exceptionality will be seen in the federated practice sports fields, which have to reduce irrigation from 450m3/ha/month to 200 m3/ha/month.

In Barcelona, the drought working group promoted by Barcelona City Council with the participation of all the administrations and operators involved has already met to analyze this pre-emergency situation and the measures that the city will have to take in the event that the restrictions increase in the coming weeks.

On the Barcelona drought website you will find all the details of the new phase and tips to save water at home.
