Principle of agreement for Messi to renew with PSG

Leo Messi will continue at PSG for at least one more season. As the French newspaper Le Parisien announced and La Vanguardia was able to confirm, the Argentine has given his pleasure to extend his stay in Paris. Nasser Al Jelaifi, president of PSG, has been talking with the Argentine along with sports director Luis Campos since June to convince him that he should continue in France. Pampering him and convincing him that there is a project so that the Argentine 10 can continue to shine in the final phase of his career.

Messi appreciated that affection and in fact he has already begun to make some reforms in his house in Paris where he lives with his wife, Antonela Rocuzzo and their three children. Everything already indicated that the Argentine would end up giving his yes, although he preferred to wait for the end of the great World Cup event in which he emerged champion with the Argentine team.

Even so, during the World Cup the conversations continued. A meeting was held in Doha between Jorge Messi, the player's agent and father, with the aforementioned owner of PSG, in which the bases of the new agreement that Messi has finally accepted were endorsed.

The player's salary and the seasons have yet to be defined, although everything indicates that Messi could renew for one year and an optional one. Everything will be finalized when Leo returns from his post-World Cup vacation, which will be in January 2023.

In this way, Messi has finally decided to give his yes to the Parisian team, closing the door on returning to Barcelona. There was never a firm offer from the Barcelona team, although President Laporta's entourage tried to get closer to Messi to establish new links after his cold and tense march without much success. In addition, the president Joan Laporta also congratulated Leo for having won the World Cup with Argentina.

Messi also has a good relationship with Xavi Hernández, with whom he often talks and who on a couple of occasions told him of his desire to return to the Camp Nou in the last transfer window. I wasn't happy in Paris but that's in the past. For his part, Xavi was one of the first to congratulate Messi by sending him a message when he was crowned world champion with Argentina.

Few people like Xavi know the Argentine so well, whom he still sees very favorably and at a high level to fit into his Barcelona. They continue to consider that the Argentine star at 35 is the best. However, in recent weeks, they also had the feeling that Messi was much closer to staying in Paris than returning to the Camp Nou. The complications that the Blaugrana entity is going through at an economic level and without a margin in the financial fair play to be able to register any signing made it even more complicated. And Messi will stay in Paris. At most he will return to Barcelona to receive a tribute.
