'Poor Creatures' snatches the Oscar for best makeup and hairstyling from 'The Snow Society'

The Snow Society was able to win its first Oscar with the category of best makeup and hairstyling. However, the Academy has chosen to give the golden statuette to Poor Creatures, the film by Yorgos Lanthimos that stars Bella Baxter, a young woman revived by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter.

The Irish film recently won the Bafta award in this same category and is now repeating in Hollywood, where it competed, in addition to the Spanish film, with Golda, Maestro and Oppenheimer.

"It doesn't matter what happens at the ceremony, just by being here and that a Spanish film is nominated in this category, you climb many steps," Ana López-Puigcerver, from the J.A. team, acknowledged to EFE days before the gala. Bayona, who worked hand in hand with David Martí and Montse Ribé.

The makeup and hairdressing section is not the only section in which the film about the aerial miracle of the Andes has come up empty, as it did not have any better luck in the best international film award, which went to The Zone of Interest, by the British Jonathan Glazer.
