Love has no age or borders, but we must not let it confuse us. John Profumo, Britain's Minister of War, was 49 years old when he fell under the charms of Christine Keeler, a 19-year-old dancer at Murray's Cabaret.

The minister was happily married to the actress Valerie Hobson, but on June 5, 1963, he resigned from all his public posts, after acknowledging that he had had a relationship with the young woman and lied about it.

Keeler, despite her youth, was also associated with the Soviet spy Yevgueni Ivanov and had a long list of lovers, including Viscount Astor.
