Orchestrate tourism well

Summer has advanced its arrival without warning and, rather than living in the month of May, it seems that we are in July or August. Not only because of the high temperatures, absolutely unusual at this time of year, but also because of the influx of hosts of tourists who have appeared unexpectedly, filling the streets, restaurants and means of transport. After two summers in a row marked by the impact of the covid, it is pleasing to the eye to see so many new visitors again in an economic situation as unstable as the one in Spain. We celebrate it if it contributes to the creation of more wealth and more jobs. And it is that, despite all the plans to promote the industry or the creation of Next Generation funds, tourism continues to be the sector that contributes the greatest wealth to the Spanish economy. It's your tractor.

The prospects of the sector for this year in Spain are more than good and these days many hotel chains boast of even improving the reservations they had before the years of the pandemic. The problem is that this tourist growth cannot get out of control and cause it to go from lamenting the lack of visitors during the covid parenthesis to reviving new tourism-phobia campaigns in a short time. Something that can happen if the governments do not decide to reorganize this sector well and improve the infrastructures to facilitate the continuous flow of so much floating population.

All citizens who have had the opportunity to interconnect in recent days at the main airports and train stations will have noticed the notable increase in travellers. Between the classic security measures, for fear of terrorist attacks, and the new ones, caused by the pandemic, there are clear risks of congestion. Without going any further, the Airline Association (ALA) already warned last April of the serious risk of saturation that may occur this summer at many airports. It is good to foresee special plans, if there is still time, to avoid problems like those experienced at El Prat airport in 2018. Yes to tourism, but well orchestrated and organized. We're still on time.
