New Valencian paradigm with respect to Madrid

The meeting that Carlos Mazón and Isabel Díaz Ayuso will have today in Madrid, in the context of the business activity scheduled by the Conexus Foundation, represents a radical change in the position that the previous executive of Ximo Puig maintained with the Madrid popular leader. A paradigm shift that, on the one hand, completely eliminates the criticism that the Botànic launched against the advantages of “capitalism”, the “fiscal dumping” of Madrid and the “centralism” of State institutions, and that seeks, in In the words of Mazón himself, establish an “axis” of joint action between both autonomies to, among others, put pressure on the Government of Pedro Sánchez.

The main objective of today's event is to address the infrastructures that connect both autonomies and, especially, the role of the Port of Valencia; logistics node that is awaiting Government approval for the Northern expansion and is the gateway for goods to Madrid. But the event goes much further, as it represents the staging of an alliance between Ayuso and Mazón that moves away from the strategy that the Andalusian president, Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla, maintains with the Government, which is more pact-oriented and possible, even to reach agreements such as that of Doñana. The woman from Madrid has become the main striker against Pedro Sánchez, an opposition line in which the Valencian president also participates, although with a much more restrained tone.

The relationship between Madrid and the Valencian Community will always be unbalanced, given the strength of the autonomy chaired by Ayuso to attract resources, economic and human, in a geography where all State institutions are concentrated, as well as the majority of large Spanish companies. ; with all the advantages that this entails. Furthermore, the Valencian needs, their urgent needs in terms of financing, debt relief or investments, the so-called “Valencian agenda”, are not those of Madrid.

It will be important to observe today if, in addition to talking about the Port and the railway corridors, there is agreement for Ayuso to support the Valencian demands. Otherwise, it will once again be perceived that Valencian collaboration will help Madrid to improve its collection of resources (the Port), but the Valencians will continue with the latent problems to which, for the moment, the Government has not yet provided a solution.
