New opportunity for Marie Claire: the judge extends the deadline for its purchase by 10 days

The head of the Commercial Court number 1 of Castellón has agreed, in the interest of the bankruptcy proceedings, to open an additional period of 10 business days to present offers for the purchase of Marie Claire, given that there is a "serious interested party" who has not been able to materialize its offer within the initial deadline, which expired on April 8. As reported by the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV), any other interested party may bid during this period.

The Madrid-based investment fund C2 Private Capital gave up and withdrew the offer it presented to buy the Marie Claire company. Said investment fund presented the offer last March - with which it intended to continue the company's production and have the workers who are still in the ERTE - after a previous one did not work after being discarded by the bankruptcy administrator. .

Marie Claire announced last year its intention to close its plant and file for bankruptcy voluntarily to proceed with the company's extinction. The Marie Claire assembly in December decided to extend the ERTE in which 72 employees were in until March 2024 to allow work to continue on the viability of the company, as reported by UGT in a statement.

Recently, the 72 Marie Claire workers who are in ERTE were in favor of extending said file for three months - until June - while waiting for the purchase of the company to materialize and thus guarantee the continuity of the activity, according to union sources reported.

Marie Claire was acquired in April 2021 by the company Think Textil in an operation endorsed by the Valencian Institute of Finance through a financing plan on behalf of the fight against depopulation.

On the other hand, the company formalized with the Generalitat Valenciana a financing operation worth 12 million euros approved within the framework of the Valencian Resilience Fund for strategic companies affected by the crisis.
