A total of 44 people, most of them passengers, were injured this Friday after the ferry on which they were traveling from the tourist city of Capri, where the meeting of the G7 foreign ministers was held, hit with a dock during docking maneuver in the port of Naples.

Among the people involved there are some tourists, several foreigners, and all of the injured were hospitalized for check-ups and medication and the majority suffered maxillofacial trauma and minor injuries. Only one 51-year-old man was admitted to the Hospital del Mar with a serious prognosis, but his life was not in danger.

According to a first reconstruction, the cause of the accident could have been the strong wind, which pushed the ferry Isola di Procida, coming from Capri, and caused it to list against the Beverello dock in the port of Naples.

The ship left the island at 9:05 a.m. and the collision occurred during mooring operations, when the passengers were already standing to go down to the mainland.

As explained by the Health of Naples in a note, among the 44 injured, in addition to tourists, there were also some police and carabinieri who were in Capri, where the last day of the G7 takes place, as well as ferry staff.
