"The PP has been saying for months that the station could not be located on Paseo de Yeserías, but it is false, the plans have been altered to justify it." That is the complaint made by the municipal group of Más Madrid in the City Hall of the capital for which it accuses the Consistory and the Community, both administrations controlled by the popular, of "crudely" manipulating a map of the Canal de Isabel II with which to "justify" that the Madrid Río Metro station, which will be built as part of the extension of subway line 11, has to be inevitably located within the Arganzuela park, motivating a significant felling of hundred-year-old trees.
The municipal group of Más Madrid has registered this Monday a dozen allegations to the modification of the project to expand line 11 of the Metro and that it reaches Madrid Río, a project that for months has been rejecting both the left-wing opposition and the neighborhood due to to the condition in the trees of the area.
"We have just learned that Madrid is the city in the world with the greatest heat island effect, which is why it is even more important to prioritize the survival of trees." One of the allegations of Más Madrid involves building the future Madrid Río station on the Paseo de Yeserías and not inside the Arganzuela park, because, according to the formation in a statement, when analyzing the documentation to present the allegations Más Madrid has detected that the route of a pipeline of the Canal de Isabel II has been falsified.
"Almeida and Ayuso are not only climate change deniers, they are now also dedicated to manipulating and falsifying documents to justify their actions," underlines councilor Álvaro Fernández Heredia in an audio sent to the press, in which he asserts that "for months "The two popular leaders" have been using as an excuse to locate the Madrid Río station inside the Arganzuela park that coincided with the route of a pipeline in its original location. Something that, in Más Madrid, they understand to be false.
"It is an effort to locate the station within a park, which entails the felling of hundreds of trees. We cannot understand it. Today we learned, together with the rest of the associations that we are denouncing, that the route of that pipeline does not coincide with the general location of the station, it is a lie that the station cannot be built in its original location, outside the park", emphasizes Fernández Heredia.
And he asserts: "We have denounced it repeatedly: there are many, and very serious, irregularities contained in the Madrid Río station construction project, to which we have presented numerous allegations, but this already exceeds the limits of administrative irregularity and is falls squarely in the penal code".
"We are going to request it one more time: place, locate, the Madrid Río station outside the Arganzuela park. It is not necessary to cut down the trees, you can return to the original location, and there is no explanation for this effort not to do so We will hold politicians responsible for all the manipulations and irregularities that are being committed in this regard," warns the mayor of Más Madrid.
