Mike Batayeh, 'Breaking Bad' actor, dies at 52 of cardiac arrest

Actor and comedian Mike Batayeh, known for his role in "Breaking Bad" as Dennis Markowski, the manager of Gus's famous laundromat, has died at the age of 52 of cardiac arrest, his family announced Friday in a statement.

Actor and comedian Mike Batayeh, known for his role in "Breaking Bad" as Dennis Markowski, the manager of Gus's famous laundromat, has died at the age of 52 of cardiac arrest, his family announced Friday in a statement.

The death, which occurred on June 1 while the interpreter slept at his home in the state of Michigan (USA), surprised his relatives because he had no previous medical history related to heart problems.

"My sisters and I announce with great sadness and regret the passing of our beloved brother (...) His great ability to bring laughter and joy to so many will be missed," the family reported.

His funeral is scheduled to take place next Friday, June 16, in the city of Plymouth, Michigan.

Batayeh starred in three episodes of the series "Breaking Bad" in 2011 and 2012 playing the role of Dennis Markowski, manager of the Brilliant Laundromat that doubled as a methamphetamine lab for Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul).

Other television titles in which he has lavished himself throughout his career include appearances on "CSI: Miami", "The Bernie Mac Show" or "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", among many others.

In addition, he co-starred in films like "American Dreamz," "Don't Mess with the Zohan" or "Detroit Unleaded."

As for his facet as a comedian, he was a pioneer acting in Middle Eastern countries such as Egypt, Lebanon or Jordan and built a renowned career in prominent clubs in New York and Los Angeles.
