Mataró gives the Generalitat the land to build an intermediate care hospital

The new Mataró Intermediate Care Hospital will replace the current Sant Jaume and Santa Magdalena Hospital. It will have 244 hospitalization places for patients who require functional recoveries or care and for patients with advanced chronic illness or in the process of end of life. It will also have 82 day hospital places.

The objective is that it can respond to the future needs of the Maresme region. The center, with an initial budget of 13 million euros, will be located on land located in front of the Mataró Hospital, on the Cirera road, occupying part of the current temporary parking lot where hundreds of vehicles now park for free, without the municipal government has advanced an alternative for the endemic lack of free parking. In total there will be 14,000 m2 of constructed area.

The property, which has been transferred to the Servei Català de la Salut, has an area of 11,163 m² and is classified as a social and health facility according to the Specific Modification of the Plan General d'Ordenació Carretera de Cirera definitively approved in October 2018. The land transferred must be used to health and/or social health equipment, within a maximum period of five years, and must maintain its destination for this purpose for the following thirty years, both periods counting from when the transfer is accepted.

In June 2021, the Servei Català de la Salut transferred to the City Council its interest in the free transfer, in its favor, of a plot of land classified as healthcare equipment, in order to be able to carry out the construction of a new social and healthcare center. . After the measurement work of the properties to adjust the data of the Property Registry with those of the General Directorate of the Cadastre, the property has been registered again in the Property Registry and the file that has led to the transfer has been carried out. to the Generalitat. Last Monday, the Board of Spokespersons approved the transfer and now the bidding procedures for the work can begin.
