Manuel Baltar was fined for driving at 173 km/h an hour before being caught at 215 km/h

The president of the Diputación and the Popular Party of Ourense, José Manuel Baltar, was fined again during the trip he was making on Sunday, April 23 and for which he was arrested at 6:38 p.m. on the A-52 at the height de Asturianos (Zamora province) when a radar detected it traveling at 215 km/h in a section where the speed is limited to 120 km/h, according to Radio Ourense de la Ser.

Ourense radio has had access to a second fine that same day, April 23, for speeding the official car of the president of the Provincial Council and the provincial PP. Baltar's car was detected almost an hour earlier, at 5:44 p.m., on the same highway near the municipality of Allariz, traveling at 173 km/h in a section where speed is limited to 120 km/h . The car was photographed by velolaser radar but Baltar was not stopped at the time.

Between the first infraction of that day and the second, 54 minutes passed during which the vehicle covered 143 km, so the car that Baltar was driving traveled, between those two points, at an average speed of more than 160 km/hour. A route where there are several tunnels with a speed limit of 100 km/h, two work zones limited to 60 km/h and 4 radar booths where he had to stop to avoid being fined more times, so the average speed would be much higher, he reports. the Galician medium.

For the first fine of the trip, Baltar would have to pay 400 euros and they would withdraw 4 points, once he is identified as the driver. For the second, he will be tried for an alleged crime against road safety on May 31 after appearing electronically before the court of first instance and investigation of Puebla de Sanabria (Zamora) on May 11, in which he refused to reach an agreement.

In this way, Baltar, who wants to reissue his position, managed to postpone a possible prison sentence until after the municipal elections of 28-M, which would greatly complicate his continuity in the Provincial Council. For now, the PPdeG has advocated waiting for the judicial process. The statutes of the PP establish the expulsion after a final conviction.
