Luka Modric renews for Real Madrid for one season

Real Madrid announced this Wednesday morning the renewal for one season of Croatian midfielder Luka Modric. The contract extension was agreed for months and today it has become official. Modric will decide in June 2023 if he continues for a season or hangs up his boots.

The Croatian footballer, who will be 37 years old in September, will complete his eleventh season in white in the next league. He is the oldest in the squad. He arrived at Real Madrid in September 2012 at the request of Jose Mourinho. Florentino Pérez paid 30 million to Tottenham for him and over time the Croatian has become one of Real Madrid's most profitable signings.

Modric has won everything with the whites, including five Champions League titles and three League titles. At the individual level, in 2018 he was the Golden Ball and won The Best award. Together with Casemiro and Kroos, he has formed one of the best Madrid midfielders of all time.

Modric's last season has been spectacular, the undisputed starter and key to the treble of the Spanish Super Cup, the League and the Champions League. The Croatian has played 3,437 minutes, spread over 45 games and has scored three goals and provided ten assists.
