The Aston Martin Formula 1 team has confirmed that Canadian Lance Stroll will participate in the Bahrain Grand Prix, after having overcome the wrist injury he suffered a few weeks ago. Fernando Alonso's teammate missed the pre-season tests in Bahrain due to a fall while riding a bicycle, as part of the preparation to gain fitness.

"The Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant team is pleased to confirm that Lance Stroll will participate in this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix," the squad announced in an official statement.

Regarding his injury, Stroll explained that "it was an unfortunate accident. I fell when I had a puncture with my bike, although the damage was not significant and a small surgical intervention solved the problem quickly."

“It has been frustrating not to be in Bahrain for the pre-season test and I was disappointed to miss all three days of the race. Given my wrist injury, the team and I thought it was best to focus on recovery to be ready for this weekend. and the long season that lies ahead", he added.

The Canadian has also taken the opportunity to thank F1 for its "support and privacy" and his team for the work done. "Now I'm ready to put my head down and focus on the racing this weekend, which I'm really looking forward to doing," he said.

Reserve driver Felipe Drugovich replaced Stroll during his absence, and together with Alonso he set some fast times in practice indicating that Aston Martin could lead the midfield teams or even battle the likes of Mercedes or Ferrari. .

The Canadian, son of businessman and Aston Martin CEO Lawrence Stroll, is facing his seventh season in F1 and has three podium finishes in his career. This Friday he will face training in Bahrain together with Fernando Alonso, before the opening race on Sunday.
