LaLiga opposes the precautionary registration of Gavi

LaLiga had not said the last word on the subject of Gavi's registration as a member of Barcelona's first team. On January 31, the entity chaired by Javier Tebas complied with the order of the judge of the Barcelona Mercantile Court number 12 who ruled in favor of FC Barcelona, who asked him to accept the new contract for the young midfielder. But he always made it clear that he would oppose the precautionary measure adopted by ordinary justice. The term ended this Tuesday and LaLiga filed the appeal on time.

Gavi has been, since the last day of the winter market, a member of the Barça first team and appears as such on the competition's official website. The interior changed the number 30 for number 6. But that can change and void the registration for next season if the judge now accepts the employer's argument.

Thebes himself had made it clear in two different press conferences that LaLiga would run out of time but that he was going to oppose. “If our opposition is estimated, he would play but he would do it with the previous card. Gavi is going to play yes or yes”, Tebas announced.

The problem lies in the different interpretation that the Barcelona club and LaLiga make of the financial fair play regulations. Laporta and the club's legal services consider that with the salary space freed up by Barça in winter (the withdrawal of Piqué and the transfers of Bellerín and Memphis) Gavi should be registered.

On the other hand, LaLiga's criteria is that, since Barcelona carried out exceptional operations, those called levers, now they have to demonstrate a series of income for the future and send a business plan for analysis. For now, Gavi will remain registered. But the issue has returned to court for next season.
