Kherson runs out of electricity, according to the pro-Russians

The Ukrainian city of Kherson, whose residents are being evacuated by order of the authorities to safer areas, has been left without electricity, pro-Russian officials reported today quoted by the Russian agency RIA Nóvosti.

"There is no electricity in the whole city. We are waiting for information (about what has happened)," said a spokesman for the energy company JersonOblEnergo. Shortly after, a source from the Kherson administration added that the city had also run out of water.

"In the city and some other districts there is no electricity or water. The situation is due to damage to electrical networks," the source told the TASS agency. According to local emergency services, the electrical networks were damaged by "attacks committed by Ukrainian sabotage groups".

"There are ten towns without electricity (in the Kherson region)," an emergency spokesman said, adding that three power line poles were damaged.

Russian-designated authorities in the Jershon region, annexed by Moscow last September, assured on Sunday that Kiev concentrates large numbers of tanks and armored vehicles near that Ukrainian area as part of preparations for an imminent offensive.

"They are concentrating more and more equipment. Many armored vehicles and tanks are arriving," the pro-Russian deputy governor, Kiril Stremoúsov, wrote on Telegram. The pro-Russian official noted that the evacuation of civilians from Kherson continues. "Residents of the city can still leave the right bank of the Kherson region without hindrance," he said.
