Karol G reveals his link with Pablo Escobar's family

Karol G has become one of the most successful voices in Latin and world music in recent months. However, in recent weeks, the Colombian artist has been on everyone's lips for reasons unrelated to her musical activity.

If a few days ago the singer complained bitterly that GQ Mexico magazine retouched with Photoshop some of the photographs that appear both on the cover and inside the publication, now some statements from the same interview have emerged in which she explains the relationship that unites the family of Karol G with the well-known drug trafficker Pablo Escobar.

In one part of the interview, the artist talks about her childhood in Medellín. At that time, Karol G's mother worked as a waitress in a restaurant frequented by the Colombian drug trafficker.

Despite the fact that Escobar is now known as one of the most dangerous and well-known drug trafficking leaders in the world, at that time Escobar was not famous for being El Patron del Mal, but for being a wealthy man who helped those most in need.

In this context, Pablo Escobar "saved" his family by giving his mother a generous tip that was key to moving forward in a more than delicate economic situation.

Although at that time he benefited from this noble gesture, Karol G has wanted to make it clear that he does not romanticize in any case the figure of the drug trafficker and repudiates all the crimes that drugs have caused in his city of origin. “My country has a stereotype that the only thing we have there is drug trafficking and drugs. And no, that time is over ”, he assures in the same interview.

In addition, the singer from Medellín has pointed out that the figure of Pablo Escobar caused "a lot of damage" in Colombia.

Finally, the artist has assured that one of the objectives of her music is to contribute to improving the image that her country and her hometown of Medellín project to the world. "Being able to do my bit and say that I am part of the group of artists who can do something for my country is incredible," she told GQ Mexico.
