Junts highlights its negotiation strategy with the Government against the ERC model

One week after officially starting the electoral campaign for the next Catalan elections to be held on May 12, Junts made a statement this morning in which they valued their negotiation model with the Government of Pedro Sánchez regarding the strategy of the Republican Left. In this sense, Miriam Nogueras, the party's spokesperson in Congress, has criticized that ERC "has not understood that being obedient will not make Madrid stop doing what they have always done", and has assessed that "Puigdemont has been the the only one capable of standing".

In the statement, in which Carles Puigdemont, the head of the Junts list, Jordi Turull, the party's general secretary, and Miriam Nogueras, its spokesperson in Congress, participated, the former president assured that in the next elections it will be decided " the relationship that Catalans want with Spain". Thus, Puigdemont has assessed that voters will choose between "those who say yes to Pedro Sánchez, inaction and those who are respected."

According to the Junts leaders, the way in which ERC has negotiated with the Government of Pedro Sánchez during its term "has only served to perpetuate the problem" and in this sense, Jordi Turull has assured that his party will not negotiate "so that impose one ideological bloc on another in Congress." "Our way of negotiating is more effective," he added.

In the statement, Junts has shown a forceful stance against ERC, whom it has accused of "prioritizing the incumbent" in its negotiations with the Government, and Salvador Illa, the PSC candidate. "Illa is Mr. 'no', his 'yes' only comes when the PSOE allows it." Turull has reproached Illa for "he never raised his voice or his finger" to point out "all the problems that Catalans suffer", and has accused him of "drafting 155" during 1-O.

Puigdemont has also announced that his party "will vote no on the State budget" if they do not reverse "the historical deficits and non-compliance in Catalonia", thus demonstrating that they can "stand up to the Government".

On the other hand, Nogueras has criticized the Government of Pedro Sánchez for the investment deficit by the State, which he accuses of creating "chronic inequality." Furthermore, the spokesperson has stated that with Junts "the Prat airport will not be the T5 of Barajas."

In the campaign, which will begin next Friday the 26th, Junts will focus on the needs of Catalonia. All the party's posters in the May 12 contest follow the line shown today by its leaders, who have assured on several occasions that "Catalonia needs to be respected."
