Junts believes that "the 52% legislature will come to an end" if the Government agrees with the PSC

Almost two years after the independence movement obtained its largest majority in the Parliament in percentage of votes and seats –on February 14, 2021–, Junts per Catalunya terminates what was called in those first months as the "legislature of the 52%" before the forecast that the Esquerra Republicana Government agrees with the PSC the budgets of the Generalitat for 2023.

The spokesman and vice president of JxCat, Josep Rius, has assured that the proposal that his formation presented to the Catalan Executive at the end of November was "perfectly agreeable". "No more difficult" than the agreement with the PSC, the leader later pointed out.

His specifications included some that coincided with those of the formation of Salvador Illa, such as those related to large projects and infrastructures: Expansion of El Prat airport, building the Ronda del Vallès between Sabadell and Terrassa or the Hard Rock in the Tarragona regions. There were also aspects in national matters and in the fiscal field, such as the gradual suppression of the inheritance tax or a reduction of personal income tax in the lowest bracket and deflation so that inflation does not affect taxpayers when paying taxes.

Thus, in Rius's opinion, if the pact between the Catalan socialists and the Government of Pere Aragonès is confirmed, it will put an end to the 52% legislature. In any case, the independence division had already been consummated in many other aspects after the 1-O referendum and it comes from afar... In fact, Junts broke with ERC in October last year and left the Catalan Executive and the CUP He had already distanced himself from the Government after allowing the investiture of Aragonès.
