Juan Antonio Nieves, new subdelegate of the Government in Alicante

Juan Antonio Nieves will be the new subdelegate of the Government in Alicante starting this Tuesday, replacing Carlos Sánchez Heras. The Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, will hold a working meeting tomorrow with the new subdelegate.

Graduated in Political Science and Public Management from the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) of Elx, Juan Antonio Nieves obtained an extraordinary award for academic excellence. At the UMH he also achieved the title of Official Master in Human Resources, Work and Organizations Management, as indicated by the Delegation in a statement.

Nieves is a career civil servant in the higher technical body of general administration of the Administration of the Generalitat A1-01, a necessary requirement to access the position he will occupy, starting in December. He currently holds a position in the Department of Environment, Water, Infrastructure and Territory, in the territorial direction of Alicante.

In addition, the new subdelegate has experience in the Administration, since he has been Head of Unit in one of the offices that make up the Espais Labora network of the Valencian Employment and Training Service (Labora).

Nieves will replace Carlos Sánchez Heras in the position, who until now, and since June 15, held the position of subdelegate. Sánchez has a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Valencia (UV) and had been deputy general director of Teacher Training of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports of the Generalitat Valenciana.

Nieves, barely 30 years old, has been an advisor in the Alicante Provincial Council and is the General Secretary of the PSPV youth in Elx. He is considered a person close to Alejandro Soler, deputy and general secretary of the PSPV in Alicante, who has not hidden his aspiration to succeed Ximo Puig at the head of the Valencian socialists.
