This photograph that we see in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos has been captured from Montseny. From about 80 km away you can see a clear image of Barcelona, in this case, of the Hotel Vela in Barceloneta, if the weather is good and the sky is clear enough.
The W Barcelona Hotel, known as the Vela for its characteristic shape, was designed by architect Ricardo Bofill. Although its height is 98.8 meters, the first plans specified the intention to build a building of almost 170 meters.
It was the Barcelona City Council that forced the architect to reduce its height, since the original design was considered to alter the silhouette of Barcelona (which should have been crowned by the two towers of the Vila Olímpica), which can also be seen perfectly from the Montseny.
One of the peaks from which Barcelona can be seen is the Puig Sesolles, a 1,667 meter mountain located in the municipality of Fogars de Montclús, in the region of Vallès Oriental.
In one of the photographs you can see the antenna at the summit of this protected mountain that is part of the Montseny Natural Park.
