Housing closes the legislature with the purchase of a building to avoid the eviction of 79 families

Late on Tuesday afternoon, over the horn, the Acting Vice President and Minister of Housing, Héctor Illueca, signed the resolution to purchase a building from the Ática real estate agency that will prevent the eviction of 79 families, according to the latest count. by the Ministry. Two days after the inauguration of the popular Carlos Mazón as president of the Generalitat Valenciana and in the last business days before the change of government, the purchase of this Sociopolis building was formalized, in the Valencian neighborhood of La Torre, once the perceptive report of the Intervention.

It involves the acquisition of 124 homes that will expand the Generalitat's public park and whose cost amounts to 16.4 million euros without VAT (18.4 million after taxes). As soon as the acting vice president stamped the signature on the resolution, the affected families were informed that they breathed a sigh of relief.

According to the information that the Ministry of Housing transferred yesterday to La Vanguardia, with the acquisition of the building up to 79 families (at the beginning of the file there were 114 affected) will avoid a "massive eviction". The same sources point out that it has not been a simple process and that the procedures for the file have taken longer than necessary - the electoral calendar has not helped either - to the point that the purchase has been saved at the final whistle of the legislature.

In fact, less than a week ago, the real estate developer Grupo Ática accused the Ministry of Housing of having breached the commitment reached for the purchase of the building, while reminding it that the lease agreement signed at its home ended on September 4. day by tenants. In a complaint presented to the Ombudsman, the real estate company denounced the breach of the promises made in the media and before the tenants by the Minister Hèctor Illueca (Unides Podem). Finally, the purchase, not without difficulty, could have been carried out before the transfer of powers.

As they reiterate in Vivienda, there was the political commitment of the Council that is now ending its journey, so closing the Botànic cycle by fulfilling this promise is considered "magnificent news". Above all, they clarify, for the safety of the affected families and, also, because the purchase of 124 homes will allow the expansion of the Generalitat's public park. Now, the same sources point out, another government will be in charge of its management in the face of a problem as pressing as the lack of public housing and the difficulties in accessing it.
