Grimes begins a legal battle against Elon Musk for her children

The Canadian singer Claire Boucher (35), known in the industry under the nickname Grimes, sued Elon Musk (52) last Friday for the parental rights of her children. The ex-couple begins a court battle to determine the artist's legal role over the three children they had together.

Elon Musk and Grimes had an abrupt romantic relationship between 2018 and 2021, when they definitively made their breakup official. During the four years of dating and their subsequent relationship, the couple has had three children. The Canadian artist gave birth to Techno Mechanicus “Tau”, who was born in June after a pregnancy carried out with absolute secrecy.

According to Page Six, Grimes has gone to a California court to have a judge legally identify her as the mother of the last two children, born by surrogate. The couple did not marry during their relationship, so the artist needs a parental relationship to be established to have the right to negotiate for custody of her children.

Grimes' request becomes official a few weeks after having begged Musk, through X, the platform he owns, to let him see his children. The artist, who has already deleted the messages, appealed to both Musk and Shivon Zillis (also Musk's ex-partner and mother of two twins) to be able to get closer to her children, since "I have never been allowed to see photographs of these children until the moment, even though the situation is tearing my family apart.”

Grimes' request has been filed in a court in California, where the judge will determine the singer's parental relationship with her children. The resolution will mark her right to access custody of the minors, which still depends entirely on Musk. The businessman has not yet commented publicly regarding the lawsuit.
