King Frederick of Denmark has already taken his first step as monarch outside his country. Last Wednesday, the sovereign of the Danes began his state trip to Poland, where he will remain for three days, in order to promote his country's business and climate policies.
A first visit that the recently proclaimed king has made alone and without his wife, Mary Donaldson. A detail that drew powerful attention, especially after the royal scandal carried out by the monarch himself after the publication of the photos of him with the Mexican businesswoman Genoveva Casanova.
The king has been in Warsaw, the country's capital, for two days, attending only to different commitments. However, unlike on other occasions, the monarch did want to explain the reason for his wife's absence, perhaps to avoid more gossip that already surrounds his marriage, especially after the last official appearance of Mary Donaldson. , where she was seen apathetic and with an attitude that was at least disconcerting.
Of course, he did it in a relaxed and joking tone, something that left those present at his reception somewhat disconcerted. The Danish monarch gave his reasons for having attended the receptions alone: "I am happy to appear before you for the first time as head of state. It is something new for me," he began by saying.
"Mainly with my wife, but she had other commitments today, so you'll have to settle with me," he finished, ironically. A "joke" with which he made it clear that his wife's absence was not due to reasons other than professional ones.
The monarch has tried to appear natural and casual at all times, willing to strengthen relations between the host country and his country. The first day of his trip also ended with a gala banquet dinner joined by different important personalities of Polish society, organized by the well-known Danish actress Gina Marchwinski.
It is not expected that Mary Donaldson will join her husband in Poland, but they will visit Sweden and Norway together soon, since in Denmark there is a tradition that new sovereigns begin their trips abroad by visiting neighboring countries.
While the king is exercising his functions as Head of State, his son Christian, 18, assumes the duties of regent in Denmark, being in charge of attending any commitment or state meeting.
