The filming of Rust resumes this Thursday in Montana (USA), eighteen months after the accidental discharge of the gun that the actor Alec Baldwin was driving and that caused the death of the film's cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins.

Baldwin continues in the project as a co-producer and as an actor, the producer specified, according to US media.

The New Mexico State Attorney's Office filed two counts of involuntary manslaughter against Alec Baldwin in January for the death of Hutchins, which occurred on October 21, 2021 at a Santa Fe County church. Baldwin was the one who activated the firearm. prop that killed the cinematographer. It contained live ammunition, although these types of bullets are prohibited on set.

The person in charge of the security protocol during the recording, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, was also charged with involuntary manslaughter, while the assistant director David Halls, in charge of delivering the weapon to Baldwin, accepted a misdemeanor charge in an agreement with the Prosecutor's Office. .

Last month, the prosecution lowered the charge against the popular actor and Gutierrez Reed, which means dramatically reducing the possible prison sentence he faced in the event of a conviction.

The film's producer and the New Mexico authorities reached an agreement whereby the company paid a fine of $100,000 for security flaws in the filming found in the investigation of the facts. Baldwin has always denied any responsibility for the tragedy and Gutiérrez-Reed has maintained that he verified that the cartridges with which he had loaded the revolver were blank cartridges.
