FC Barcelona presents its shirt for the 2022-23 season

FC Barcelona has presented this morning the official kit that the team will wear during the 2022-23 season in its home games. Ansu Fati, Piqué, Busquets, Pedri, De Jong, Eric García, Aitana Bonmatí, Mapi León, Alexia Putellas, Asisat Oshoala and Fridolina Rolfö have been the models in charge of wearing the shirts for the first time. Under the motto The flame is still alive, the new design is inspired by Olympic Barcelona, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Olympic Games that took place in Barcelona in 1992.

With this reference, the club intends to symbolize the existing connection between the renewal and expansion that Barcelona enjoyed from the hosting of the Olympics and the current situation of the team, which is in the midst of a process of restructuring, change and growth, betting for the rejuvenation of the workforce and the formation of a solid, stable and sustainable block for the future.

At the design level, the shirt is made up of vertical stripes that combine the traditional blue and maroon with a darker blue. The lines, yes, do not cover the entire shirt, as usual, but the shoulders and neck are plain dark blue. Some geometric details can be distinguished in the background that give it a more modern look. The pants will follow the darker blue tone of the stripes and the shoulders.

The highlight of the new kit is the presence, in gold, of the logo of the club's new main sponsor, Spotify, centered on the front of the shirt. On the back, below, appears the UNHCR/ACNUR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) logo. For the graphic elements of the kit presentation campaign, as specified by FC Barcelona on its website, a typography inspired by the one used during the Olympic Games has been used.

In a video for the club's social networks, Xavi Hernández has reacted for the first time to the new shirt. "I like him. Very cool. Let's see if he gives us luck and we win titles, but he's cool," said the coach of the men's first team. To him, the new design does not transport him to 1992, but to a more recent stage. "It reminds me of 2004. The era of Ronaldinho, Deco, Eto'o...". This will be the new skin with which FC Barcelona will seek to get rid of the bad taste in their mouths this season and go back to competing for everything.
