In the Government they assume internally that in the March strike they made two mistakes that they will try to avoid in this call.
The first was the delay in deploying the Police and the Civil Guard at strategic transport points. By the time the order came, it was already too late. The carriers had blocked several key points. Then came the violent scenes. There were more than a dozen detainees and fifty complaints. Interior had to deploy more than 23,000 agents to stop a strike that put the Executive in check.
The second mistake, and this is recognized by government sources, was accusing the protesting truckers of sympathizing with the "far right", according to Raquel Sánchez (Transport), and even of "playing the game" of Putin, in the words of María Jesús Montero (Hacienda).
These are declarations by ministers that, according to these sources, will not be repeated.
