Enjoy a luxury brunch at five iconic Madrid hotels

The weekend is coming and, with it, the desire to enjoy it in its different gastronomic possibilities: going out for lunch or dinner or – if it is Sunday – having a delicious brunch. An Anglo-Saxon idea that is born from the combination of breakfast and lunch (breakfast and lunch), especially intended for all those who want to treat themselves to a late wake-up or a meal that starts a little earlier than usual. The capital offers numerous proposals; some of pure luxury, like those corresponding to these five historic and exclusive hotels in Madrid. There are even ones with a Michelin star and live music or opera.

The spectacular nature of a buffet with more than 200 national and international references with live stations and live music makes the Intercontinental Hotel (Paseo de la Castellana, 49) almost a must-see every Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. And not only that. The gastronomic proposal, which corresponds to the head chef Miguel de la Fuente – in charge of the hotel's entire culinary offering – includes a cocktail masterclass, in collaboration with the main brands of premium spirits, for those over 18 years of age, and a pastry class for the little ones in which the hotel's master pastry chef will teach them how to prepare pastries and sweets. Of course, places are limited, so it is necessary to register in advance.

Under the dome of the hotel lobby, a spacious, warm and bright space, enlivened with live violin, guitar or piano music, everything will be enjoyable. Starting at the end of April, when the terrace of the El Jardín restaurant opens for the season, it will also be possible to indulge in pleasure outside. The brunch is arranged into different savory and sweet stations. There is no shortage of ham cutter, meats (Roasted suckling pig Segovian style, carpaccio and, as a novelty, grilled meats such as matured beef loin or Iberian pork), seafood and fish (lobsters, sushi prepared live, ceviches and other grilled varieties such as sea bream or monkfish), miniature desserts or a hot chocolate fountain. All this with a selection of drinks included.

Price: 94 euros. Children from 4 to 12 years: 50%. Children from 0 to 3 years: free.

The evening becomes sublime with the accompaniment of the great lyrical hits, performed on the piano by a tenor and a soprano. Live Opera! Every Sunday, Madrid residents, guests and visitors can enjoy a great buffet under the most iconic stained glass dome in Madrid – that of the La Rotonda restaurant – the jewel of The Westin Palace (Plaza de Las Cortes, 7). A hotel with more than a century of life in the heart of Madrid – it was commissioned by King Alfonso just a few steps from some of the most prestigious museums in Europe.

The Opera

Price: 97 euros. Children up to 12 years: 50%.

The culinary talent of three Michelin star Quique Dacosta, gastronomic director of Mandarin Oriental Ritz (Plaza de la Lealtad, 5), elevates a brunch that is, to say the least, unforgettable. The sophisticated gastronomic experience takes place, through a buffet, in one of the hotel's impressive dining rooms or on the terrace, weather permitting. And now that winter is coming to an end, it becomes a real outdoor pleasure.

A selection of hot and cold dishes, along with drinks for all palates, make up one of the most famous brunches in the capital in one of the most historically rich hotels. The event, which does not forget the little ones – who have a play area – is on Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.

Price: 145 euros. Children between 4 and 11 years: 58 euros. Children from 0 to 3 years: free of charge.

In a restaurant surrounded by vegetation, which instils calm and boasts views of a secret garden, a brunch is served to delight in an exquisite selection of dishes made with the best raw materials of each season. The Hotel Orfila (Calle Orfila, 6) treasures this space directed by chef Mario Sandoval –two Michelin stars–, who highlights the importance of using fresh and local ingredients. Equally special is the decoration of the space, which corresponds – like all that of the hotel – to the famous interior designer Lorenzo Castillo, who leaves his mark with colors, textures, prints and pieces of art in El Jardín de Orfila, which is the name of the restaurant. Pure luxury and classicism.

Reserve your Sunday, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., to enjoy with family, couples or friends homemade preparations made to order: cakes, eggs to taste, Galician beef steak tartare cut to order; oxtail brioche, crispy onion and guacamole; Hubert de Givenchy boletus cream or foie, pomegranate and red fruit vinaigrette salad. The liquid menu includes various fruit juices, two glasses of Moët

Price: 75 euros. Children up to 11 years: 29 euros.

Dishes made with the best meats and fish, seafood and garden products. Foods that are very much ours: the assortment of cold cuts, the cheese board or the mixed paella. And also a sushi corner with sushiman, among many other possibilities. Gastronomy lovers are called to enjoy this unavoidable experience, the essence of tradition and one of the best Anglo-Saxon brunches offered, in the heart of the Salamanca neighborhood, by the Wellington Hotel.

To the delight of those with a sweet tooth, there is the succulent pastry made artisanally every day in their workshop. The Claridge Room, with abundant natural light and in line with the decoration of the French-influenced hotel from the late 19th century, hosts this brunch every Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Price: 80 euros. Children up to 12 years: 40 euros.
