El Pinotxo reopens in the Sant Antoni market

After nine months of hiatus, the most loyal customers have returned to the emblematic Bar Pinotxo, which this week reopened in the Sant Antoni market with the essence that made it so popular and loved among visitors to La Boqueria.

He has done it without Joan Bayén, the Pinotxo of flesh and blood, whose death last April was followed by a major family dispute: days before his death, Bayén sold the premises to a third party, without the consent of his nephew Jordi Asín, who had registered the Pinotxo brand under his name.

Asín is once again in charge of the establishment with his partner, María José Diez, and his son, Didac, now in another of the city's large markets, where they occupy a position with a much larger bar and a modern design. and functional. Despite the difficult moments, they explain that they feel happy to have left La Boqueria: “It has become a PortAventura, our business makes much more sense here.”

In the new Bar Pinotxo they offer exactly the same cuisine as before: tripe, cap i pota, stewed chickpeas, squid with beans and other traditional recipes. In short, a market cuisine that still draws on its previous suppliers, waiting to consolidate new alliances between the vendors of Sant Antoni.

Don't expect to find photos of Juanito Bayén on the walls, because the Bar Pinotxo litigation continues. In a few months we will know who is right.
