El Cor Madrigal offers Catalan music in the Romanesque ensemble of Cervià de Ter

Catalan choral music, both classical and popular, is the star of the 12th edition of the Festival that is being celebrated in the Monastery of Santa Maria de Cervià de Ter. In this Romanesque ensemble, one of the most beautiful in Catalonia, the Madrigal Choir performs this Sunday (8 p.m.) a repertoire that ranges from the madrigals of Cristòfor Taltabull to the traditional Mallorcan Ton pare no te nas by Baltasar Bibiloni, passing through the music of Millet, Morera, Oltra, Cumellas or Toldrà.

This festival organized by Ibercamera together with the Cervià City Council remains for the time being a modest event without artifice, although always betting on international figures and local ensembles of great artistic solidity. This summer, the theme of the contest has agreed to be Catalan music, which last night Croatian Ana Vidovic (Tàrrega, Albéniz and Sors) performed on guitar and this Sunday afternoon will lend itself more to reviewing the popular songbook, from the hand of the vocal ensemble directed by Pere Lluís Biosca.

You will hear, for example, El rústec villancet y la Sardana de l'abril, by Lluís Maria Millet; the sardana The snows that melt, by Enric Morera; Toad, Elefant or the habanera Amor sailor, by Manuel Oltra, or The Hereu Riera, by Josep Cumellas Ribó. Also the Catalan translations of Matinet me en levo jo y Ai minyons, by Eduard Toldrà, or Margarideta y Joan del riu, by Manuel Oltra, as well as En Pere Gallerí, by Xavier Sans, or the aforementioned piece by Baltasar Bibiloni.

The City Council of Cervià has managed to get the Diputación de Girona to make a contribution of 12,000 euros for this summer event with music that at the moment only occupies one weekend.
